Hoops, baseball notes

Alabama men’s basketball tickets are on sale. A ticket for all 18 home games are $264 or $172, depending where you want to sit.

Mini Plans and Single-Game tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 8 a.m.

To purchase season tickets, contact the Alabama ticket office located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum, or call (205) 348-2262.

Baseball

The baseball team is in its second week of fall practice. A second scrimmage open to the public wraps up the week at 6 p.m. Friday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

Ben Ashford, an Alabama alum, joined the coaching staff as the strength and conditioning coach. He started out as an intern with the program for 18 months.

 Women’s basketball

The  women’s basketball team started Tuesday, holding its first practice of the year at Foster Auditorium. The session focused on several areas including position work, transition, passing, shooting and rebounding.

The Crimson Tide is under the direction of Kristy Curry, who took over the program in May. She is assisted by Kelly Curry, Terry Nooner and Shereka Wright.

Alabama returns six letterwinners from a season ago, including its top two scorers in Daisha Simmons and Shafontaye Myers. There are several new faces on the Tide roster this season as well, with six freshmen and two junior college transfers.

Alabama will have one exhibition game at home on Nov. 4, against West Alabama before opening the season at Chattanooga on Nov. 8. The Tide’s first home game of the season will take place on Nov. 21, when Alabama welcomes Wisconsin to Foster Auditorium. Season tickets can be purchased through the Alabama Ticket Office, located in Coleman Coliseum, by calling 205-348-2262.
